Key to the success of group process work is the shared practice of confidentiality. That is, “What’s shared in group stays in group.” While you are welcome to talk about your own experience of being in the group, you are asked not to talk about anybody else’s experience outside of group. If confidentiality is broken please have an expectation that you will let the group know about the breach at the next meeting.
In accordance with TN state law, we are mandatory reporters. That means if something is shared during group that indicates someone is a harm to themselves or to others, we are required to seek appropriate help for them. Additionally if a disclosure is made that a child, elderly person or disabled person has been abused or neglected, the law requires that a report be filed with appropriate authorities.
